Troop 22 NEWS|
Cadet Captain and soon-to-be Eagle Scout Nick Haag recruited and led several motivated volunteers this past Saturday (Aug 27th) to begin work on his Eagle Leadership Service Project. Required materials were purchased the day prior, with photographic evidence of young Nick doing the shopping and loading. His project involves the construction and placement of two robust outdoor bicycle racks near the entrance of Loaves & Fishes in Harlingen, TX. Owned by the churches of Harlingen, Loaves & Fishes is the “mission arm” of the churches, offering help & hope for the hungry, the homeless & the hurting. Many of the residents will use the bike racks to secure their bicycles during stays or visits to the facility. Life Scout
Nick Haag is in-work on the project with completion expected soon.
The Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project is one of the final hurdles in earning the coveted title of Eagle Scout, per the National Council of Scouting: “While a Life Scout, plan, develop, and give leadership to others in a service project helpful to any religious institution, any school, or your community. (The project should benefit an organization other than Boy Scouting.) The project plan must be approved by the organization benefiting from the effort, your Scoutmaster and troop committee, and the council or district before you start.”
Troop 22 begins work on a merit badge at the Tuesday evening troop meeting.
