Plebes Rock the Confidence & O Courses! August 21, 2011 NO OBSTACLE TOO BIG…THESE PLEBES WILL CONQUER ALL…WITH CONFIDENCE TO SPARE!Relatively mild temps, Gulf breezes and blue skies welcome Plebes as they take MMA’s Confidence and Obstacle Courses by storm. There’s quite something to be said for the fortitude with which these young men tackle these challenges. The Obstacle Course begins by running and jumping upwards, grabbing a steel bar and somersaulting over the bar in mid-air, jettisoning onto a couple of parallels placed oh, maybe three feet apart…just enough to get a boot on each…then walk ever-so-sedately at a downward incline to a waiting platform. Wait, you’ve only just begun! Jump upwards, latching onto a telephone pole-size log, somersault over upon pulling one’s self up a couple of feet higher than the peak of one’s head. Gently jog forward to tackle the waiting wall, up-up-and-over…briskly job forward to side-traverse the series of log hurdles, and finish with a shimmy to the top of the ropes, smack the top bar and holler out your company for all-night bragging rights. Do all this, and do it again. Here comes that C.I. with the sunscreen, just what you need to make your grip a bit slippery…go ahead, slather it on…then wipe your palms on the bark chips to get that ultimate grip-thing going on. Okay, play time’s over…time to MARCH on to the Confidence Course! Big dividends are dealt out aboard MMA’s Confidence Course as Plebes learn to push past previously-set goals… and a whole lot more to boot! Confidentially, Plebes enjoy themselves tremendously on this event. As they finish up with a belly-crawl under low-lying plastic-coated wire, each will stand tall to brush shirts and trousers free of layers of dirt, emitting a dark cloud guaranteed to rival a Wyoming dust storm…grinning all the while. The cleaners will have their work cut out for them tonight, and HEADS UP, Plebes’ MOMS – these clothes are going to be crispy clean by the time you lay eyes on ‘em…OORAH! |
